October 2016 Mission Offering: World Mission Offering

World Mission OfferingAmerican Baptist International Ministries is supported solely through the generosity of churches and individuals. Their primary fundraising vehicle is the annual World Mission Offering. Currently about 100 full-time missionaries, along with short-term missionaries and mission partners, serve in more than 70 countries. Their central mission is to help people come to faith in Jesus, grow in their relationship with God and change their worlds through the power of the Spirit. Churches may also give through their budget to a missionary of their choice (Targeted Giving).

An increased number of Muslim women, whose dress makes them easily recognizable as belonging to a non-majority faith, are fearful of venturing outside their homes even for simple errands or to attend worship services for fear of the prejudice they encounter outside their doors. Strident voices make increasingly inflammatory public statements and unfounded verbal attacks. Continue reading Being Inter-religiously Baptist

Mission Offering for July: One Great Hour of Sharing (7/27)

One Great Hour of SharingThrough One Great Hour Of Sharing we embrace refugees around the world as our own. We say “where you go, we will go.” This offering places us side-by-side with those in need. The One Great Hour of Sharing offering reaches across the globe. Sometimes it provides solidarity to those who have experienced loss due to disasters in our own community and congregation, and at other times it says tangibly “you are not forgotten” to our sisters and brothers on the other side of the world. Through our gifts, we can help ensure that all of God’s children have what they need. Together, we accompany the refugee and stand in solidarity with the distressed, bringing about the world as God intended. Please give prayerful thought to your gift this year.

To date we have received $803 toward our goal of $800.
